Bring together harvest records, batch labels and the beekeeper’s story. Keep the original evidence alongside the information it provides.
HoneyPass brings innovative technology that transforms the cost of traceability and solves the biggest challenges of tracing honey as it changes hands and forms.
Follow the journeyInnovative technology · From hive to home

From beekeeper to extractor, blender and packer, honey changes hands and forms. HoneyPass brings those stages together, making its journey simpler and more affordable to trace.
Bring together harvest records, batch labels and the beekeeper’s story. Keep the original evidence alongside the information it provides.
Follow the links through extraction, storage, blending and packing. Make the relationship between incoming honey and outgoing batches easier to see.
Make selected provenance records accessible through a product passport. Show what supports a claim, and what still needs to be checked.
From the hives to the hands that care for them. From the first harvest to the jar on your table. Follow every part of the journey.
Sample passport · Illustrative scenes and fictional records, not actual suppliers or a live shipment.
Every journey begins with a place. Explore the landscape around the hives and the origin that stays connected to the honey as it travels.
This sample origin record links the apiary reference to the harvest. A real passport would show the location and producer information they have chosen to share.
Care goes into
every harvest.
Keep it in the story.
For producers, HoneyPass is an opportunity to connect the work behind the product with its story. For brands and buyers, it is a way to ask better questions about where honey came from and how it was handled.
HoneyPass brings ZiTrace’s innovative traceability technology to honey, with the sector’s own people, processes and records at its heart.
Explore the ZiTrace approach ↗New Zealand has set out to double the value of its exports by 2034. For honey, much of that value rests on what a buyer can believe about the jar.
Mānuka is where proof matters most. HoneyPass is designed to keep each batch’s laboratory results, such as the tests behind MPI’s mānuka definition and grades like MGO or UMF, with the honey they describe, and to follow that honey through blending and packing.
Honey has no levy body gathering the sector’s information, and beekeepers, extractors, packers and exporters each hold part of the picture. HoneyPass lets each keep their own records and connect them, so the sector can tell one consistent story, in market and when regulations are reviewed.
The markets paying most for New Zealand honey, from India to the Gulf, reward a story told well, but few beekeepers can be on the ground there. A passport that travels with the jar carries the beekeeper’s story and evidence into the market.
HoneyPass is the honey initiative being built on ZiTrace’s traceability technology. The sample passport is illustrative; this website is not a public production platform.
Traceability helps connect records through a journey. Authenticity claims may also require appropriate testing, corroboration and independent review. A connected record alone does not establish that a claim is true.
Depending on the evidence available and permissions granted, it could include producer stories, harvest and batch records, processing handovers and relevant laboratory reports or certificates. Gaps should be visible.
HoneyPass is a traceability initiative, rather than a honey retailer or certification scheme. The aim is to support producers and brands with a clearer view of provenance and supporting evidence.
